I had No Choice but to stand up for myself. (Hebrew version)
Recently due to personal situation, I get to practice only once a week, for me, this is a disaster, leave aside the degradation in athletic achievement, It's a mental disaster!
After a decade of training on a daily basis (ie living with this masochistic and rewarding addiction), it's like going to rehab while .climbing the Everest
Anyhow back to the case, Monday night at 22:30 I got to get to my once a week training , finishing the warm up around 23:00 through the speaker, I hear : "All the women leave the gym".
At first I tried o ignore it, but the lovely boy got up and began to harass the fairer and stronger sex , by approaching every one of us girls and telling us to leave immediately.
I got into a complicated situation, after a particularly hard day ,week and month, I had to train ! along with the fact that I worked there for years as a gym instructor throughout my bachelor's degree.
So in those moments, we (the girls) looked at each other , and at
that moment were utterly alien to partnership in a joint struggle: "If you stay then I stay", and of course the men-the Knights (and especially my knight, dearest to my heart) approached us and brought words of support.
So, in between sets of squats and dead-lifts, a harsh debate flared:
At the end of my training Technion's security came to threaten the girls to get out - what added to the madness of that evening.
Get us out of the gym by (male?) security guards of the academic institution where I study, institution that wins Nobel Prizes, promotes research by women, All this for two guys that are weaker then me?
I was shocked, and of course willing to talk about it in the media, who were quick to pounce on a story like starved animals on a carcass.
See for yourself:
Technion stated that due to a request of it’s religious community, it was decided to start separation hours for men and women, provided there were at least 30 subscribers, and at times when the women were absent.
In reality, there were at least 10 women at that time, only 21 registered guys registered and two actually came and no hours for women.
The end of the story is that two days after the incident , the separation hours were canceled until further notice
Overall, I do not like / interested / involved in the political situation on this subject, but when politics strikes on your head, you have no choose but to take sides.
